What to expect
A typical massage is from about 40-90 minutes long, with a brief 5-10 minute consultation. For the full body massage, you will need to be undressed but may leave underwear on. In America they have you wear a sheet, and only uncover parts of you that are the focus of the massage at the moment. You lie face down on a specially padded table, the massage therapist will come and adjust your pillows, or change the temperature of the room if you would like. When the massage is given, they will either use a light oil or lotion to lubricate the body and make it easier to knead into the deep tissues. Once your massage is complete, take your time getting up, it’s very likely you will feel dizzy.
Massage therapy is an ancient practice and a very effective alternative medicine. There are little to no side effects or risks if you are an overall healthy adult. Massage therapy prices are on average about 60 dollars per hour. If you have a medical condition or a chronic illness it is best to speak with a doctor before getting a massage.
