ZYBAN is the brand name for Bupropion. The prescription is used to relieve mental depression and is used as part of a support program to help you stop smoking.
A clinical study researched the success rate of nearly 800 men and women who smoked an average of 15 cigarettes a day. After 7 weeks of counseling, 461 successfully stopped smoking. 50 percent of the group continued taking Zyban for a year. The other half took a placebo. The result of the test showed that the people on Zyban had a smaller relapse ratio compared to the group that was taking the placebo. The following year, 55% of the Zyban group was still smoke-free while the majority of the placebo group had relapsed.
